A Bit of Great News in a Day After Some Gloom...

Derek just called me with some great news...

He finally heard back from the insurance adjuster on what they'd valued our Tahoe at...

It came back in the amount of $32,410.00!!!

We owe somewhere around $21,300.00... so we are looking at something like a balance of $11,110.00 for a down payment on a new vehicle!!  And that isn't including the reimbursement of the vehicle tags we just paid on 7/26 of $316 or the car seats I had to buy... (you have to replace your child car seats after a car accident)

I'm extremely excited about this... just knowing we'll have that much to put down on a new car makes the idea of having to go out and buy one much easier on me... lol.

Always Late... But Worth the Wait...

Here is my Ticked Off Tuesday...

Here's how it works: It's just the little annoyances that we don't really think about when asked, and maybe not  often enough be called Pet Peeves, but make us groan and shake our heads when they happen.  List as many or as few as you want.

* Just because I'm wearing an empire waisted shirt and have a few extra pounds in my middle region doesn't mean I'm pregnant... so don't go ahead and ask... asshole.

* Kids that don't listen... oh wait, I think I put this on every TOT that I do, don't I??

* It ticks me off that I'm so tired... and I really shouldn't be... guess I could blame it on the stress... hmm, I think I will :)

* There is not enough hours in a day to do all you want... and still get the kids to bed on time.  That's right... its 1020pm and my kids are just now getting out of the bath... I blame it on my husband who can never leave at a decent hour from our friends house...

* Drunk Parole's... did I do this one before too?  Oh well... just get used to this one, 'cause I might be putting this one on here again for a while ;)

* Oh yeah... and the people who don't think before they speak ::cough stupid man who thought I was pregnant cough::

Okay, have fun kids...

Kindergarten is Just Around the Corner...

So, Rowan starts kindergarten a week from today...

We just got the letter in the mail telling us whether she was in morning K or afternoon K...

Well, we got stuck with afternoon (1030am-230pm)...

I'm trying to find a way to sneak her into the morning class... it would just be so much easier on all of us if she could get into that class.

Zach starts preschool on Monday... and he goes from 8am-12pm... so, it would be a logistical inconvenience for her to have to be at school 2 1/2 hours after him!!

That would be just too much driving for my poor childcare (::cough mom cough::)

Anyways, we'll see what happens.

They do have a program at the school called PAL... which is kinda like an educational day care of sorts... the principal told me that if he couldn't get her into the morning class, that we could always drop her off around 9am (after Zach goes to school) and then they'd take her to her class at 1030am when it starts...

Its something to think about... but not too sure if we want to have to have her there for 1.5 hours before school starts...

We should hear by Thursday afternoon if she is able to go to the morning session of school... just keep your fingers crossed for us, okay??

My mom took both kiddos to the mall today and got them both two pairs of shoes and socks.

I swear to god, I have the best parents anyone could ever think about having...

Mom said they were on their way to Children's Place to look at some clothes... but Zachary had an accident (his first in a public place!) so they had to leave... I can just imagine that he was heart broken...

He thinks he is such a big boy by wearing his Big Boy Chonies ;)

I think I'm going to take Rowan to the mall for a Girl's Day this Saturday... do some clothes shopping for her (and Zach) and maybe grab some lunch.  I've asked my mom if she would like to go, but I'm not sure if she is able to yet... but it would be a nice day to spend them with my two favorite females ;)

Okay, I'm outta here...

Gotta finish up some more work and then I'm headed home to my hubby and babies...

XOXO

Mirror Copy of an Entry from my Weight Loss Journal...

Ouch...

Just had a gentleman come to our window to check in, here at work...

And he asked me when I was due.

::ouch::

Yeah, I'm hurt... and yes, I cried... after he walked away that is...

I'm thinking I'm doing so great on WW... and then all of the sudden I get a blow like that...

::sigh::

Why...

... do cars have to be so damned expensive???

It makes me sick to think of having to go and look at new cars...

And the thought of the haggle and the buying experience....

::shuddering::

I don't even want to go there....

::sigh::

Thankful Thursday....

After yesterday's events, I really can put out a meaningful Thankful Thursday...

* I'm thankful for my husband... with out him, I think I'd be a lost woman.

* I'm thankful for the quick response of the police and rescue personal.  Yes my husband wasn't injured in the accident... but they still treated him like he could have had some kind of injury.  They took the greatest care possible with him and I can only be so thankful for that...

* I'm thankful insurance... Sure, we all hate to pay for it... 'cause it is a bit expensive... but when you need it, it sure is helpful.

* I'm thankful for workmen's comp... Derek can take time off to recoup from the accident and get paid for it.  ::they cover their officers to and from work::

* I'm thankful for our Tahoe.  Yes, it is destroyed... but if Derek had been driving my PT Cruiser - which he had been planning on - he probably wouldn't be home right now...

* I'm thankful for family and friends... the support from them means the world to us.

I probably could write more about what I'm thankful for... but really, my mind is a bit mushy today... lol.

Yesterday was a completely busy blur of a day.  I was up at 2am and never went back to sleep after we got home from the hospital... then we had to do a bunch of errands - and never finished all we had to do.

We had to go to the PD and have Derek finish paper work that had to do with the accident... then it was off to the tow yard to go and make sure everything wasout of our Tahoe (the fire guys cleaned out the car for us)...

Seeing the Tahoe in person put me in awe.  I simply turned to Derek and asked him, "How did you walk away from this?"...

Then from the tow yard, we went to our friend's house (who is one of the firemen) to grab all of our JUNK that was in the car...

From then, it was off to get Derek's prescriptions... and some lunch for my hungry babies...

My dad came over to the house then to watch the kids while they napped so I could take Derek to his workmen's comp doctor... we were there for 4 hours!!!!!!!!!

He has Derek off of work until the 8th... and will do another examination on him on the 7th... I'm sure by then, if Derek is feeling better... he'll be itching to get back to work!

So, needless to say... I'm tired today.  I crashed hard last night when I went to bed (930pm!!) and didn't want to wake up this morning ;)

Thank goodness for Starbucks... lol

Okay, I've gotta get busy at work now... got stuff piled on it from yesterday when I wasn't here!!

Have a great Thankful Thursday, friends!!

Nothing like a mid-night phone call...

I was woken up this morning at 2am by a phone call from the dispatcher at Derek's work...

She was calling to tell me that Derek had been in a pretty bad car accident on his way home.

She said he was fine... and up and walking around... but that they'd be taking him to the hospital.

I immediately called my parents... and asked them to come and watch the kids while I went to the hospital.

Dad called down to the PD- he is a reserve officer there... and will be coming over to full time next week... he got the low down from the dispatcher...

After hearing from my dad again, my parents being the most wonderful people in the world, came right away.

My mom went with me to the hospital... she drove... probably knowing that I'd be driving like a bat out of hell ;)

Got to the hospital to be greeted by firemen from the city and other police officers...

God, I love the brotherhood that they have down there...

Anyways, Derek is fine.

Really, no, extremely sore...

He is in a soft-collar next brace.

Off of work for a few days... maybe more depending on what the workmen's comp doctor says...

Okay... So, this is what happened.

Derek was working OT last night... doing DUI enforcement down in the town that is holding the County Fair...

Well, on his way home... some DRUNK PAROLE decided to smack into him...

Took out the whole car... its totaled.

The rear passenger door is pushed into the car and up behind the driver side.

The rear windows were blown out... and a tire was totally ripped off.

According to the Fire Guys and from seeing the picture, Derek is SO COMPLETELY lucky.... lucky to be alive and to not have any more injuries...

::sigh::

Now we have to look into the whole new car thing... call the insurance... figure out what we can or can't afford...

Can you say Stress???

Today will be filled with all kinds of fun, I'm sure ;)
