~Useless Day~

Today was an absolute waste of a day.  Yeah, it should have been a pretty good day and we should have been in Sacramento visiting Zach's cardiologist, but that didn't happen either.

Yesterday, while I was at Weight Watchers (I didn't do as bad as I thought I was going to, btw) Derek rings me up and says, "You're going to be pissed." And I'm thinking, WTF did you buy now??? lol...

Well, he didn't buy anything.  He informed me that Zach's primary doctors office called and said that his insurance had denied his visit to the doctor in Sacramento (who mind you, is THE best of the best!!).  They also said that they were transfering him to a doctor in Modesto.

::Me so not happy at this point::

So, I told Derek to call Zach's cardio office and see what they have to say.  Well, he was told to call in the morning, because the lady he'd need to talk to had already gone for the day.

This morning, before I could even call the cardio office, they called, TO CONFIRM his appointmen!  WTH??  How did they not know that he was denied to see them?  So, I mention this to the lady and she gives me the number of the referal lady at another office.

I call her.  She tells me that late yesterday, they had indeed denied the appointment, but when she wrote a letter, explaining Zach's case, they then approved it.  So, she told me that they were still probably going to switch us to another doctor down here in Modesto, but to still come see Dr. Park (his cardio) today because she'd go over the transition... But no tests (ie Eco, EKG or Holster Monitor) were to be done.

About an hour later, after she tried to get ahold of CVMG's medical director, she called to inform me that the denied the visit again!!!

::I'm fuming at this point, but being very nice to her, she was great::

They indeed wanted Zach to be seen by this doctor in Modesto.  The only reason I became okay with the idea was that Dr. Park felt that this new doctor would be able to handle Zach's case... And if he had to refer to anyone, he'd be refering to a doctor either out of University of San Fransico or Children's Hospital of Oakland.

Dr. Park also felt comfortable with Derek's and my understanding of Zach and his condition.  That if we felt there was something wrong, we'd be quick enough to get him to the hospital or to realize there was a problem.

So!  Zachary will no longer be traveling to Sacramento for his cardio check ups.  I'm not too upset about that, but I rather have him be seen by the specialist that he was seeing, rather than a normal peds cardiologist.  I'm not trying to sound picky here people- but Zach's condition is pretty severe for his age.  And to know that he was seeing "The Best of The Best" would make everything feel better...

I guess I'll find out how I feel about his new doctor on Friday at 930am.  The lady said that the appointment would take anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half.  The doctor will review his chart with us and then do an EKG and ECG.  Fun Fun... And I'm not sure if they'd be doing the holster monitor or anything yet, but I won't rule that out.

::Argh::

So, today, instead of going to Sacramento, the kiddos and I went to my MIL's house for a little visit and lunch.  Rowan was able to play with her cousins and see her Nana... Which was nice!!

But right now the kids are sleeping, so I think I'm going to go use my time wisely and possibly take a nap... hehe..

See you all later!

::HUGS::

That really stinks about the Best of the Best doctor and your insurance denying him!!  I love insurance companies because we have them, but I dislike them too because of the hold they have on you when it comes to stuff like this!  I hope everything goes well on Friday with the new doc.  Hope you got that nap in!  :)
Hugs and love, Lisa

i can understand why u are upset...i would be too...your babies health is far more improtant than anything else....but like the dr said u are smart enough to know if somethings not right and will get him right to the hospital...so i guess its in your hands now...the new dr may be really good though...so wait and see how it goes and u can decide after the appt...i know when i see a dr i can tell by the first visit if the dr is good or now...look at the bright side..now u wont have to make that long drive...(hey, u gotta try to find a bright side somewhere, right?) i will continue to keep your wee one in my prayers that he will continue to grow and thrive...and im glad to hear u didnt do so bad at WW! have a nice evening..

Talk about a run around!! UGH..I know what you mean..Zachary being so small and helpless... I'm sure it DID help to know he was getting treatment from the best..But at leaqst this is someone the "best" has recommended! ((HUGS)) to you... This might be a blessing..You might end up loving the new doc AND saving the long trips!!

I detest insurance companies.  It's such a crock.  You pay and pay and pay into them...but when the time comes that you need that insurance, they deny everything.

Have I mentioned I hate insurance companies??

Let us know how the new doc is!

Love,
b

p.s.  Zach's gonna be just fine no matter who his new doctor is!

UGH....sometimes people know just what to do to get on your nerves.  I can understand why you feel aggravated at the thought of Zach seeing anybody other than the best of the best.  Keep a good outlook though.  You may like this peds cardiologist just as much :)

I agree, I would want him to be seen by the best of the best too. I can't believe that the insurance was denied. Usually law enforcement has about the best insurance that you can get.....or at least around here we do.....I hope that the new Dr. turns out to be great.
hugs,
Kathi
